Description

Practitioner-interpreted immune reactivity testing for children.

The KBMO FIT (Food Inflammation Test) looks at how your child’s immune system may be reacting to specific foods.

It uses a simple finger-prick blood sample collected at home to measure delayed immune responses that may be contributing to ongoing symptoms.

This testing may be considered when symptoms fluctuate with food intake, are ongoing without a clear trigger, or when previous dietary changes have not provided clarity.

Professional written interpretation is included with all testing.

Who This Test May Be Helpful For

Food sensitivity testing may be appropriate for children experiencing:

  • Bloating, abdominal discomfort, or loose stools
  • Eczema or recurring skin flares
  • Behavioural or mood changes suspected to be food-related
  • Headaches or fatigue associated with certain foods
  • Ongoing symptoms without clear triggers
  • Complex or fluctuating multi-system presentations

This test does not diagnose food allergies.

Panel Options

Three panel sizes are available depending on clinical need.

FIT 22 – Targeted Core Panel

Investment: $345 AUD
(includes postage, laboratory analysis, and written interpretation)

Best suited for:
• When a small number of foods are strongly suspected
• Milder or more straightforward symptom patterns
• Families wanting a focused, lower-cost starting point

Includes 22 commonly reactive foods such as:
• Cow’s milk
• Egg (white & yolk)
• Wheat/gluten
• Corn
• Soy
• Peanut
• Beef
• Chicken
• Banana
• Potato
• Cinnamon
• Macadamia

This panel measures delayed immune responses to 22 selected foods.

Does not include the Gut Barrier Panel.

FIT 132 – Expanded Panel + Gut Barrier

Investment: $625 AUD
(includes postage, laboratory analysis, and written interpretation)

Most commonly selected option.

Best suited for:
• Ongoing digestive or skin symptoms
• Symptoms involving more than one system (e.g., gut + skin or gut + behaviour)
• Unclear or fluctuating food triggers
• Previous elimination attempts that did not provide clarity

Includes 132 foods across broad categories such as:

  • Dairy (cow, goat, sheep, whey)
  • Grains (wheat, barley, rye, oats, rice, quinoa, spelt, sorghum)
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Meats and seafood
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Common additives (e.g., MSG, food colourings, preservatives)
  • Yeasts

Also includes a Gut Barrier Panel, which assesses markers associated with intestinal barrier integrity (sometimes referred to as “leaky gut”).

This panel provides a broader view of immune reactivity patterns while also offering insight into gut barrier involvement.

FIT 176 – Comprehensive Panel + Gut Barrier

Investment: $795 AUD
(includes postage, laboratory analysis, and written interpretation)

Best suited for:
• Complex or long-standing symptom patterns
• Multi-system presentations (e.g., gut + skin + behaviour)
• Broad or varied diets where triggers are difficult to identify
• Families wanting the most comprehensive food panel available

Includes all FIT 132 foods, plus expanded categories such as:

  • Additional spices and herbs
  • Expanded seafood and shellfish
  • Additional legumes and seeds
  • Miscellaneous items (e.g., vinegars, oils, sweeteners and other commonly consumed foods)

Also includes the Gut Barrier Panel, assessing markers associated with intestinal barrier integrity.

This panel offers the most extensive overview of potential delayed immune reactivity patterns.

What This Test Measures

All FIT panels assess:

  • IgG1-4 antibodies
  • C3d complement activation
  • Immune reactivity graded from low to high (green to red zone)

Results are interpreted alongside your child’s symptoms, dietary history, and overall clinical picture.

Important Context

IgG-mediated immune responses are different from IgE food allergies.

  • IgE reactions are immediate reactions and may be severe.
  • IgG responses are delayed and require careful interpretation.

The presence of IgG antibodies does not automatically mean a food must be permanently removed.

Results are used to guide structured, dietary strategies where appropriate.

Food sensitivity testing does not diagnose food allergies and should not replace medical allergy assessment.

FAQs

No. This test assesses IgG-mediated immune reactivity, not IgE food allergy.

Not necessarily. Results are interpreted in context and may reflect temporary immune activation.

The kit includes clear instructions. Most families find the process manageable at home.

If the blood spots are not adequately filled, the laboratory may request recollection. Clear instructions are provided to minimise this risk.

If unsure, FIT 132 is typically the most balanced starting point for ongoing or unclear symptoms.
